SOME/IP and Service Discovery
An IP address being reachable does not prove that a service instance is available or an event is subscribed.
Service-oriented communication
SOME/IP describes a service-oriented communication protocol with service and method or event identifiers. Payload interpretation depends on the service interface. It can be carried over configured UDP or TCP communication; transport choice matters for framing, reliability and latency.
Discovery and subscription
SOME/IP-SD supports discovery and announcing service instances plus eventgroup subscription. A service offer is different from a method response or an accepted event subscription. Examine instance identifiers, versions, endpoints and time-to-live information.
Layer the investigation
First verify link and network configuration, including VLAN and IP addressing. Then inspect discovery traffic and endpoint options. Finally check application availability, method requests and event subscription. A visible offer alone cannot establish that the consumer subscribed correctly.

Network ready
Addresses and network paths are configured.
Conceptual sequence. Timing is slowed for learning; it is not a hardware measurement.
Your investigation
Offers appear in a capture, but the consumer receives no events. List the next evidence to inspect.
Reveal the investigation checklist
- Match service, instance and version.
- Inspect SubscribeEventgroup and acknowledgment.
- Check endpoint addresses, ports and TTL.
- Verify the event producer and network delivery.
